Wild Looks on the Bright Side After Rochdale Draw
Barrow boss Pete Wild saw plenty of positives, despite the stalemate at Holker St yesterday and offered hints of reinforcements to come in the transfer window.
Speaking on BBC Radio Cumbria, the Barrow supremo said, “it’s been a clean sheet we haven’t had for a while,” praising league debutant Scott Moloney and saying he and his family could be very proud.”
A buoyant Scott Moloney told the club media that “it’s a shame we didn’t get three points but I’m buzzing to get my debut and keep a clean sheet.”
The Bluebirds gaffer was keen to praise the efforts of his side. “We are moving in the right direction compared to last year. We had enough chances to win the game but unfortunately could not get the first or second contact. Everyone has got to chip in with goals.”
Wild insisted that fans should look at the progress on and off the field compared to last year.
He stated that money needed to be freed up to bring ‘four or five’ players in with the focus on the front four and insisted, “if they fit within our wage bracket, we’ll try and add to what we’ve got.”.
The first of these arrivals, wide man Elliot Newby spoke of his delight in his return to his hometown club and to working with Pete Wild again. “It was a massive factor, knowing how he works and how it fitted into how I play.”
Newby, who has successfully played at Telford, Workington, Altrincham, Halifax and Stockport, was keen to get going back home in Barrow, where he last played under Darren Edmondson.
