The 1901 Club is entering its final 8 days for supporters to register their entries.
This seasons 1901 club is focused around the 125th season, with contributions going towards events, merchandise and celebrating via a variety of activites.
So far you contributions have been fantastic. At the time of writing sales are ahead of this point last season. As a trust we thank you for this, your response across this summer has been invaluable.
So far through your 1901 contributions we have already been able to put on two key events in the dock museum display and the 125th anniversary re-enactment game. Both events provided brilliant opportunities to celebrate our historical season and reflecting back on the moments that have made this football club special, not only from the football club and the players and managers that have represented it, but through the support who without you we would not have been able to achieve so much in the past 125 years.
Our next key milestone will take place this Friday, with a 125th anniversary tifo taking place in the Holker St End before our match v Yeovil Town. This piece will proudly take home in the fanzone once used, with a nod to those who have represented the football club.
Looking ahead to the season and what the Trust has planned in collaboration with the Barrow 125 team there is plenty for fans to be excited about noting the 75% contribution your 1901 entries provide.
Currently, work is taking place to put together the heritage trail, capturing the key areas and moments throughout the town of which the club has held its historic memories. This will be interactive with a walk taking place that will capture the club from its inception to current day.
As part of the school term beginning in September, there will be an education piece within local curriculum, that will allow the continued celebration of the football club. This will allow those in local schools to learn more about the 125th anniversary of the club and the highs and lows of watching Barrow AFC. This will be a collaborative piece with the Barrow AFC Foundation through local workshops with primary schools.
With the dock museum exhibition drawing to a close at the end of September, we will be looking to bring this inhouse as part of our ‘shipyard to stadium’ activity. This will allow elements of the exhibition to be brought into Holker St for supporters to observe and reflect on our 125 years as a football club.
In addition to this, there is a series of merchandise pieces that are currently being designed in the background, these will be released throughout the year varying in design and style to help commemorate our anniversary, Following on from the sale of the pin badges being sold in a limited quantity of 125. Majority of our merchandise sales will follow a similar style, this will allow supporters to hold their own individual pieces of history.
Finally, we will continue to communicate throughout the season on the various additional activities that are still in the works, these will include a remembrance piece in November, commemorating those that have have served for the country. Alongside this to close the season a piece will be taking place at the townhall where various celebrations have taken place from Wilkie to Daz and Dave, as part of our ‘homecoming heroes’ celebrations. Our celebrations will be frequent and plentiful throughout the season, with plenty for supporters to be excited about.
These events will again be supported by your 1901 contributions with details below on how you can get involved alongside some important details below;
