Trust Travel Summer Update and a plea to book early
Trust Travel is a core part of what the Bluebirds Trust provides to our members and providing the  opportunity for as many fans to attend away games is important to us. As such, it generates lots of comment and feedback and many of the comments in the end of season survey related to the price of travel last season.
As every year, once the fixtures were out at the end of June, we contacted coach firms for quotes. This year we contacted 20+ companies from Carlisle to Manchester casting the net as wide as we could given the lack of competition locally. Â
Sadly, only 5 of those firms contacted bothered to reply. Two declined to quote citing the distance from their depots to Barrow and the added expense that would cause to their potential price, and a third seemed to have plucked a figure from thin air. Which left us with two quotes to choose from.
We have chosen to get all the buses this season from Reay’s Coaches Ltd based in Wigton as they were the most competitive over the course of the season.
However with this change in provider come slight differences in how we need to run the buses.
Their T&Cs mean we have to pay for the buses 7 days before travel, unlike previously when we could pay much closer to the date of travel and make a decision on whether a bus was viable to run at the last possible moment.
So, we now ask that you please try to book your travel as soon as you can after the buses are put on sale, so that we can reach the minimum number (20 adults) required to run the bus and make decision to run a week before travel. Buses will remain on sale (if seats are available) up until the departure time for those who need to book late, but it would really help us and your fellow travellers if you could book as soon as possible.
For Info: The Chesterfield bus has now reached the minimum required and will run.
